2012 Botmaskop, Delaire Graff Estate
A cool start to the 2012 vintage provided for excellent flavour retention. Sporadic heat waves later in the harvest allowed grapes to be picked at optimal ripeness ensuring great body finesse and structure in red.
From Delaire mountain vineyards, the grapes were handpicked in the fresh hourse of the early morning.
Extensive sorting of the grapes formed part of the quality management process. The grapes were de-stemmed only, not crushed, to ensure gentle extration of fruit flavours. Whole berry fermentation and gentle punch downs ensured extra care in handling of grapes. After backet pressing, the wine matured in French oak barrels for 18 months where malolactic fermentation took place.
Delaire Graff Estate, South Africa
Powerful, yet elegant and polished. Beautiful Red blend with classical aromas of dark berry fruit, spice and cassis. The softness of tannins and the balance in structure complete this wine on the palate with an aging potential of 5-8 years.
